Exploring the natural world provides me with an amazing amount of inspiration for creating my felt  pieces. I enjoy time out of doors in all seasons whether in my backyard, hiking in the woods, strolling by a creek, enjoying a lake or ocean or leisurely walking around my neighborhood. I collect sticks and stones, seed pods, insect wings, leaves, feathers, and other objects that present themselves to me. I consider these gifts from nature. I take numerous photos on my walking adventures. Lichens, mushrooms, tree bark, native flowers are among my favorite subjects. I view the minutiae of the items I collect to explore their forms and textures.

About the Artist:  Cathy Vigor is an artist  who specializes in printmaking and fiber art and sometimes combines printmaking techniques with feltmaking. Her work has been widely exhibited in group and solo exhibits regionally, nationally and internationally. Most recently her work was included in Fiber Focus 2019 in St. Louis, Explorations in Felt 2020 at the Hunterdon Museum of Art, Clifton, NJ, Separate Yet Connected, International Feltmakers Virtual Exhibit 2020, Archetypes Virtual Fiber Exhibit 2020, Lexington Art Leagues Member Exhibit 2020 and 2022.  Exhibit venues with Bluegrass Printmakers include Jane Chancellor Moore Gallery in Frankfort, KY, and in Lexington the Lyric Theater, Main Library, Downtown Art Center, East Side Library, Living Arts and Science Center, Bread Box Artist Studio, Lexington Art League, and most recently the Matrix Revealed exhibit at the Lexington Art League 2023. 

Vigor is a juried member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen, Kentucky Crafted, and Bluegrass Printmakers. In addition she is a member of the Surface Design Association, International Feltmakers, and the Fiber Guild of Lexington.
