No. Membership is open to anyone interested in art.

May I enroll my child in an LAL class or workshop?
Most of our workshops are geared toward individuals 18 years of age or older. However, young people, especially those of high school age, do participate in our workshops, contingent upon both parental permission and instructor approval. Need-based workshop youth scholarships are often available -- contact our Education Specialist at 859.254.7024 or mfiske@lexingtonartleague.org.

How much do you charge for admission to exhibits?
Admission is free to all LAL exhibits. Selected events have admission charges; however, these vary. (Donations accepted and appreciated!)

How may I contact LAL after hours?

5/3 Fourth Friday . . . Where Work Stops and Art Starts is an opportunity to enjoy art, friends, music and food every 4th Friday of the month (January through October). 5/3 Fourth Fridays last from 6 - 9 pm at Loudoun House. For current info, click here.

Does LAL offer juried competitions?
We offer several juried competitions throughout the year. The Nude International, held January through February, is repeated each year, as is the American Founders Bank Woodland Art Fair, a juried art fair, held in August of each year. Other juried competitions are held on a changing and rotating basis. Upcoming calls to artists are listed here.

Are there non-juried exhibit opportunities?
Our Members' Gallery, at Loudoun House, offers LAL member artists several non-juried exhibit opportunities each year, including our annual Members' Open exhibit. The submission process for non-juried Member Exhibits is open only to current LAL Members. Upcoming calls to member artists are listed here.

Does the LAL have studio space available?
We do rent studio space to artists. Leases become available on a periodic basis. Contact our staff for more information.

What outdoor events are presented by LAL?
Our juried American Founders Bank Woodland Art Fair, produced in partnership with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Parks and Recreation, is Central Kentucky's largest free, outdoor cultural event. Featuring over 200 artists, high-quality, hand-crafted fine art and fine craft, live music, family entertainment, food and more, AFBWAF annually draws over 60,000 patrons to Lexington's Woodland Park during the third weekend in August. Click here to see information about the next Fair.

Do LAL members give private art lessons?
Yes. Many of our member artists are available for private lessons in various media. Contact the LAL office for more information on specific artists.

I have a piece of artwork, and would like to obtain information about the artist / know how much it is worth.  Can you tell me?
LAL is not a commercial gallery, and consequently does not employ an appraiser.   For a valuation of your investment, LAL recommends you contact a reputable, professional art appraiser. If you want to know about or contact the artist, LAL staffers may be able to provide information about contemporary Central Kentucky artists. Any other inquiries may be best answered by an art museum curator.  Locally, you might contact curators at the Univeristy of Kentucky Art Museum (Lexington, KY), the Headley-Whitney Museum (Lexington, KY), the Speed Art Museum (Louisville, KY), the Contemporary Art Center (Cincinnati, OH), or the Cincinnati Art Museum (Cincinnati, OH).
