The Mysteries
Jennifer Dunham
About the Artist: Hi, I’m Jen. I have always been an artist even when I worked in the library. In fact, my current work is inspired by my work in the library. I earned a bachelor’s degree in art education and my first job was teaching art to all 12 grades in a small school in Indiana. From there I worked as a designer of monograms and organizational emblems for Thread Letter Monograms in Indianapolis.
I became interested in stained glass work and took many classes while working at my designing job. I was able to land a job at the Godward Glass Studios in Indianapolis and worked in all aspects of stained glass from design to cutting glass to assembly. When my husband was transferred to Kentucky, I decided to stay at home to raise children, but didn’t give up my art as I held art classes for homeschooled kids in my home. I had the opportunity to work in the local library when the kids were older and I managed the art gallery in the library as well as getting my librarian certification. I created the artwork for library programs among my library duties.
In 2017 I became a certified Zentangle teacher and taught classes through the library. I started work on the library card catalog cards as a stress reliever and the drawings on the cards grew more detailed and larger incorporating many cards in each piece. My first gallery show was in the local library and my art took off from there with the acceptance of membership in the Kentucky Crafted program of the Kentucky Arts Council. I have since had gallery shows at the Jane Chancellor Moore Gallery in Frankfort, Kenton County library, Lexington Public Library, the Kentucky State Capitol, B3 gallery in Nashville, IN, and several group shows in and around Lexington.
I hope you enjoy viewing what I create.
