Self taught artist Katie Logan is an artist born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. With the visual arts running through her family, Logan began pursuing art as a profession two to three years ago. Currently living in Georgetown, Kentucky with her two children and husband, she spends her time between being a professional artist and being a stay at home mom.
Considering herself a “realistic impressionist” like painter, Logan’s paintings often consist of watercolors and acrylic (sometimes mixing gouache with the two),used on watercolor canvas, watercolor paper and stretched canvas. The artist’s creative process depends on the subject she is working on, consisting of working from photos that she has taken, researching other images for inspiration and including her own ideas. She likes to include in her artwork a large amount of detail creating her own personal touch. Logan's art work is also created by working on a different series each year. A past series of Logan’s art work focused on vibrant, beautiful, detailed paintings of flowers and at the moment she is in process of painting a series called “American Made”, which is an auto related series featuring old rustic cars. Besides her series, Logan also works on landscapes, as she considers the subject one of her favorites and often tries to include some type of landscape in her other works. When it comes to influences, Logan is inspired by her family and her appreciation for other artists.
“I definitely appreciate other artist and their eye for art. Really when it comes to influences it’s every artist. I appreciate anyone who has the passion, drive, commitment, and are just going to sit down and do something that they want to do and don’t care about what other people think about their art… "
