Tales They Told Us
Call for Entries
entry deadline: October 14, 2012
exhibition dates: March 22 - May 12, 2013
For centuries myths, legends, epics and moral tales have delighted the imagination with fantastical worlds constructed from both fact and fib. These stories-- rich in symbolism, social criticism, and dark humor—are often passed down through generations and inevitably influence who we are and how we understand our world.
Tales They Told Us is an exhibition open to artists exploring issues common in traditional and contemporary tales including parables, folklore, ghost stories, comic books, urban legends, tall tales, and even news stories. Notions of the courageous hero(ine), the evil villain, deception, betrayal, gossip, magic, adventure, and everlasting hope are just a few ideas open for investigation.

Absolutely no early removal of artwork is allowed for any reason. Sales: Not all works need to be for sale, but the Lexington Art League retains a 30% commission on the retail price of all works sold in the gallery. The artist must determine retail price, which is sent with the application materials.
Insurance and Liability
Work will be insured while on LAL premises to the limits of the insurance carrier’s contractual obligations. Accepted work that is not delivered or is withdrawn may prevent the artist from future eligibility in LAL exhibitions. All entries must have been conceived and created by the artist submitting the work. Accepted artists are required to sign the LAL contract for Exhibition & Sale of Artwork that will be mailed in the acceptance packets. The LAL Exhibitions & Programs Director has final authority to define what constitutes an acceptable entry. The LAL reserves the right to eliminate (upon receipt) any entry that:
