What is the Artist Archive?

The LAL Artist Archive is a non-juried searchable online compendium of visual artists living and working in Central Kentucky. It currently contains nearly 300 artist profiles featuring clips from interviews, images, and other biographical information. The archive will expand and evolve as LAL continues to add new artist profiles.

LAL created the Artist Archive for a few important reasons:
The Artist Archive is a tool and resource for artists to connect to new audiences. Because the archive is free and easily accessed by anyone online, featured artists can share their work with a wide audience; the audio interviews facilitate a deeper understanding and appreciation of each artist's work, process, background, and interests.

The process of creating artist profiles is a way for LAL staff, interns, and students to cultivate meaningful connections with artists via one-on-one, face-to-face interviews with featured artists.

LAL values artist's cultural contributions to our community, and is committed to establishing and maintaining genuine relationships with artists living and working in our shared community. LAL considers the Artist Archive a meaningful asset to the artist community that can continue to develop through future programing.

Do  you  know  an  artist  who  should  be  included  in  the  archive?

Selection of profiled artists is non-juried and open to any visual artist in Central Kentucky. (Students must have been out of school at least one year). If you or someone you know is a visual artist in the area, LAL would love to expand the Artist Archive and would be happy to schedule an interview and studio visit. Please fill out the form below.
