While sculpting he makes a point of exploring materials and applying a wide range of techniques, conventional and non-conventional in order to respond to the benefits and difficulties of each medium. His formal education had a focus in metal arts, which laid the ground works for materials such as wood, concrete and clay. Currently focused in wood, Ben continues to channel is fascination with the interplay of the spiritual and subconscious aspects of life. Using abstract and figurative imagery, he interacts with the balance of the metaphysical and tangible aspects of the human existence.

Unsought Discoveries
These pieces are an exploration, in form, of the subconscious creation process. Each piece was created by responding to the material and allowing the shape of the object to be dictated by its tone. These sculptures are manifestations of the guiding forces throughout life, and were created with the intent of self-reflection. The ambiguity of the imagery is intended to allow the viewer to place the works within their own individual experiences. In engaging with the work the viewer is meant to be faced with the same emotions and questions as I was in the creation of these pieces; and through the process of answering those questions, find some resolution within themselves.
