Idols, Demons, and Deities
Bradley Wilder

Artist Statement:  When Painting, I am as a frenzied scribe with a subliminal story to tell. I paint myself, my family and my freedom from doubt, my trust and my faith. The paintings are a release of my subconscious, the therapy and mysticism for the self that is set forth before me for things I cannot further put into words.

Cliché’s and archetypes are used in order to bring stereotypical representations into a realm of unraveling my mysterious mind. A mind that is subdued from sensory deprivation which has been brought on by one’s own essential being through means of meditation, which expanded the mind into a closer relationship with mythologies. The opaque color schemes within the works reflect a personal struggle of a dingy, cloudy, blurred version of reality. A reality strictly closed off from public view. The paintings are the gods of my existence, my idols, my demons and my deities.
