Some Things Left Unsaid
Ciara LeRoy (a.k.a. Pretty Strange)

Artist Statement:  This is an altar to words typed then deleted, expressions caught in the knots of our throats, notes ripped and discarded before being deposited in a mailbox. These are some things left unsaid. Everything you read here is true—assembled from statements collected from the public by the artist. These things range from mundane to shattering. By bringing these ethereal expressions into a tangible, physical context for the first time, they create weight, conversation, release, and perhaps closure.

Artist Bio:  Ciara LeRoy a.k.a PRETTY STRANGE, is an independent artist specializing in hand lettering, illustration, murals, and embroidery.  In 2017, she started her creative firm Pretty Strange Design, with a mission to make bold, beautiful, and offbeat works that inject imagination into everyday life. Her goal is to make work that is well-crafted and aesthetically pleasing, but also deeply thoughtful and socially conscious. She is passionate about connecting art with community development and using creativity to build bridges and explore deeper questions.

Her work has appeared in Insider, Better Homes & Gardens, and PopSugar and some of her past clients include Cosmopolitan, Luna Bar, Madewell, and Facebook.
