Call for Exhibitions

A current Lexington Art League membership is required for any exhibition proposal to be considered.

In 2019 the Lexington Art League introduced a new exhibition structure, which has greatly increased the number of solo exhibitions and collaborative opportunities for artists and curators in the greater Lexington area. In the last year we had 25 solo exhibitions and three large group shows that showcased work from over 150 different artists.
We are no longer accepting exhibition proposals for 2026. Proposals for 2027 will be accepted starting January 1, 2026.

How it Works

The first thing you need to do is to make sure you are a member of the Lexington Art League, only proposals by Kentucky-based visual artists who are current members of the Lexington Art League will be considered or accepted. The second thing to do is to fill out the Exhibition Proposal Form below, or visit: https://form.jotform.com/210915151540041.

Next, comes the review and there are two stages to the review process. First, all proposals will be reviewed by Art League staff and board members for quality and content. All artists will be notified, no later than April 15th, if their proposal is selected to proceed to the second step. This step will most likely include a studio visit where at least one Art League staff member will come to the artist's studio to see the artworks in person. This is also a chance to talk with the artist in depth about their work, processes, and their plans for their show.

After the second step is completed artists will be notified if their proposal has been accepted and we will begin scheduling exhibitions. All artists will be notified no later than July 1st of the final status of their proposal. The final exhibition schedule will also be set by no later than July 31st.

When to Submit Your Proposal

January 1st - March 31st    Any proposals received outside of this window will not be considered and the artist will be asked to resubmit their proposal at the correct time.

What to Submit in Your Proposal

Required:
  • Completed Exhibition Proposal Form
  • 5-10 images of your artwork
Optional:
  • CV
  • link to your professional/personal website or social media site that features your artwork
The Exhibition Proposal Form can be found below and at https://form.jotform.com/210915151540041.
