The Lexington Art League presents FEAST: Pleasure + Hunger + Ritual, an exploration of food and eating as seen through the diverse perspectives of thirty-five local and international artists.
We eat for a variety of reasons: pleasure, hunger, comfort, social ritual. Various food industry issues, from sustainable agriculture and organic farming to GMO’s and government nutrition regulation, have brought about political, ethical, and social debate. At the same time, hunger and obesity battle as epidemics in different parts of the world, serving to amplify the effect of global wealth inequality.
This exhibition aims to explore complex issues related to food and eating through social, emotional, ethical, religious, political, health, and other perspectives.
