Shades of Bluegrass
Jonathan Gaddis

Artist Statement:  A wise woman had once told me one of life’s great meanings was simply, “to go home.” Our labors are spent building a home; we mature and pursue a mate so we can build a family to go home to; at the end of our shifts - all we want to do is go home. At the end of our lives, what are we doing? We’re going home.

Painting is medicine; I like to get behind the brush and let my mind go – and often it wanders home. I have found great comfort in our beautiful state. In my exhibit before you, “Shades of Bluegrass,” I have expressed some of the beauty I have found along my journey. In my work I strive to capture those moments of pause and beauty intertwined with the magic of home that resides within my soul. I view this exhibit as a piece of an ongoing journey home, and I look forward to continuing it until I draw my last breath.
