An Airy Atmospheric Perspective
Kellene Turner
Artist Statement: An Airy Atmospheric Perspective is a series of works that are intentional interpretations of cloudscapes. Playful sprays of dramatic light are seen or lost within canvases, leading through multiple layers of opaque color to darker analogous points. I chose a motif of atmospheric skyscapes with clouds due to their ever changing structure and light sources. The deep rooted emotion of these works are bound to my personal techniques, which includes heavy manipulation of the paint body, which alters the saturation within each layer.
Be it dawn or dusk, the sky brings about the hope and promise of a new day. Materials specifically in this series have been salvaged, mended, and redesigned to highlight the mood of my compositions.
Kellene Turner has been a practicing fine artist for over 30 years, but it was only in the last decade when she surrounded herself with a local Fine Arts movement that she truly found an encouraging direction of artistic and personal style. Art can be a powerful impact or subtle transformation to a place. Changing and growing with new experiences, and learning through experimenting are the best influences in spurring creativity in her studio.
Her life’s work is abundantly inspired by travel, people, nature and natural forms. When painting she lets the medium take on a life of its own and manipulates its limits. Time creating is truly raw and a personal experience. This ability brings Kellene great joy and even more so that she can share it with others. Works that are on display are created in multiple sittings of timely layers and thoughtful palettes.
